Do Not Harm Your Skin While Trying to Do Good
A sparkling, flawless skin is everyone's dream. With the information pollution on the internet and the advice of influencers, many "cares" we do with innocent intentions actually cause deep skin damage. Based on dermatological observations in our clinic, we have compiled the 5 biggest mistakes frequently made in skin care for you.
Misconception 1: "The More Peeling (Scrubbing), the Cleaner the Skin"
Fact: Your friends, microbiomes and lipid (fat) barrier, live in the top layer of your skin (Stratum Corneum). Applying granular (particle) peelings 3-4 times a week or scrubbing with hard loofahs tears this defense wall apart. As a result, the skin remains moistureless, wrinkles quickly, and becomes vulnerable to external bacteria (acne). Cleaning should be gentle; medical washing once a week is sufficient.
Misconception 2: "Oily Skins Should Not Use Moisturizers"
Fact: Oil and water balance are entirely different. Your skin might be vomiting sebum (oil), but it could be extremely "dehydrated" (thirsty) in the background. When the skin feels it is devoid of moisture, it pumps out more oil to protect itself as a reaction. A water-based, non-comedogenic (pore-unclogging) moisturizer actually stops oily skin from shining to a great extent.
Misconception 3: "Sunscreen is Only Applied in Summer and Outdoors"
Fact: The cause of 80% of skin aging (photoaging) is UVA rays. Even on a cloudy winter day or sitting at home by the window, UVA rays leak through the glass and damage the DNA and collagen fibers of your cells. The #1 secret to staying young is using a protector containing SPF 50 every morning, 365 days of the year.
Misconception 4: "Products Containing Chemicals Are Harmful, Natural Things Should Be Applied"
Fact: Lemon, baking soda, toothpaste, or raw garlic are completely natural but are tremendously abrasive and burning acids for the skin's pH balance of 5.5. Since kitchen materials are not separated by medical technology, they leave chemical burns and permanent spot cell activity (hyperpigmentation) on the skin. Laboratory-isolated "chemical" hyaluronic acid is a thousand times safer and more organic than a tomato you spread on your face.
Misconception 5: "Expensive Creams Erase Wrinkles"
Fact: No cosmetic cream can erase expression wrinkles (e.g., crow's feet) passing under the skin and adhering to the muscle and smas layer, or grooves caused by volume loss. Creams are excellent ground protectors; however, established aging and tissue deficits can only be frozen and suspended from the inside using Medical Fillers, Golden Needle, or Botox Applications.
